Hello River Dwellers
This month has been a crazy one. I (Fortunes) threw out my back and was in so much pain I could barely walk. Also had extreme difficulty thinking and focusing, which was not fun. However I am feeling significantly better, and was able to push through the rest of the refactor and get out a new version. That means we have moved from version 0.3 to 0.4! I really do think this was the last major refactor. The reason I say that is because the current refactor lets me create the world in a way that closes what I imagine it would be like. I don't want to spoil too much, but being able to represent the world map in 3D space should now be entirely possible. Currently we have 3 locations, and the game runs fairly jittery in browser. As we build out the intro area this will likely become the final demo. We are planning 1 cut scene to set the story, the last day of the cider festival, the first dungeon, and 1 boss to be the demo. Since we are planning on going to Midwest Gaming Classic again our goal is to have all this ready by spring of next year.
Now this means that Pain has a lot of art assets to make. They are on a much needed vacation right now, hopefully they are able to come back relaxed. They are also looking into using SVG images instead of PNG images to make the characters in the game look cleaner. Since this is a new medium the assets may take longer to make. This is definitely something we are experimenting with, and will continue to update on.
Take care and keep being awesome!
